Nigeria Chief Of Staff, Abba Kyari Dies Of Coronavirus - COVID-19 Infection

For some Nigerians, is a sad event while for some, according to the videos and news making round the internet, it is a good omen as the man closest to President Muhammadu Buhari, which is his chief of staff and the trusted, Abba Kyari has died from complications related to Covid-19 after a nearly month-long battle with the virus.

Kyari had widely been seen as one of the three most powerful people in Africa’s largest economy and said to have the complete trust of the president himself. Some had even described him as the defacto head of the government because in a country where the presidency holds an inordinate amount of centralized power and government funds, deciding who has access to the president accords immense power and influence.

Abba Kyari was the top official aide to Muhammadu Buhari and one of the most powerful men in Nigeria. Like Buhari, he was in his 70s, and he had underlying health conditions, including diabetes.

And even with a political culture overweighted in outsized egos, Nigeria’s government ministers and state governors had to learn to work by going through Kyari before getting to the president. Makes one wonder who is really incharge.

Below are the pictures from Abba Kyari's burial. May his soul rest in peace.
