How To Stop/Disable Windows 10 Auto Update (Automatic Update) Permanently

If you stumbled upon this post, chances are Windows 10 Auto Update is pissing you off and you are sick of it. The good news is, the  solution to that which you seek (how to turn off windows 10 automatic updated permanently) is here.

Before I go into the solution(s) of stopping Windows 10 auto-update, it will be worthy to mention that Microsoft designed Windows 10 to automatically update itself because of security reasons. They (Microsoft) don't want your PC to be attacked by viruses and malware. Suffice it to say, viruses and malware are everywhere and they keep dishing out new ones to circumvent known anti-virus, so keeping your Windows 10 update is paramount.
But if you are like me, regardless of all these reasons, I don't want to be working on my PC and it will just go-off doing Microsoft bidding (auto-updating my system), thereby slowing my system down. To be candid, this is just secondary when compared to eating up my data and bandwidth.

Ok. Now, the solution.

How To Stop Windows 10 Auto Update (Automatic Update) Permanently..

There are different ways to achieve this and it all depends on the version of Windows 10 you are running on your PC. If you are using Windows 10 2015 Edition, Windows 10 2016 Edition and Windows 10 2017 Edition, this solution is for you. If you are using 2018 and November 2019 Edition (1909), scroll to the last solution.

So for those using Windows 10 2015, 2016 and 2017 Editions, here is how to disable it..

Step 1: Hold Windows Icon on your keyboard and press R (Windows Icon + R)
Step 2: Type "services.msc" without the commas and click OK
Step 3: Scroll down and find "Windows Update", right click on it and choose Properties
Step 4: Under General tab, click on "Stop"
Step 5: Under "Startup Type", open the drop-down and select "Disabled"
Step 6: Click APPLY and Ok

And thats it. if you don't understand the tutorial very well, you can watch the YouTube video below that will work you through how to disable Windows 10 auto-update.

Now, for those using Windows 10 2018 Edition and Windows 10 2019 Edition (1909 - the latest Windows 10) the above tutorial will not work for you. It will disable Windows 10 quite sure but after restarting your PC 2 or 3x, the Windows 10 Auto-Update will re-enable itself.

Microsoft is determined to make sure they push their latest updates to people that is why they created another security layer in Windows 10 2018 Edition and 2019 Edition. This security layer makes sure that even if you disable Windows 10 auto-update with administrator password, it will re-enable itself again.

They are trying to beat us in our own game..oh wait, in their own game..oh .., well whatever. But I know for sure they want these updates to be pushed to you without your control. That is why they didn't include a way to disable it in Windows 10 interface in the first place... Now i feel like am sing and rhyming ..lol (Windows 10 Interface in the first place).
