JPEG Saving To JFIF - How To Resolve Windows 10 File Extension Problem

How To Solve The Windows 10 File Extension Problem - JPEG Saving To JFIF

I don't understand what Microsoft Corporation was thinking or what they planned to achieve when they implemented this 'jfif' picture update. I don't know if this is an error or a bug which they over looked. While using windows 10, when downloading a JPEG file, it saves automatically with an extension of JFIF instead of JPG.

Frankly, every program, from picture editing software to ftp software do not understand or accept the jfif extension and why Microsoft thought it wise to implement this update still remains unfathomable. Most people are so pissed up of downloading photos and later converting the file right back to jpeg that they even dumped Windows 10.

Well, regardless of all that stupidity, "yes,  you can send those letters now, lol... ", don't panic yet. Today I'm going to show you how to correct this bug which is mostly associated with people using windows 10. Below is the procedure to program/tell your system to save your jpeg file to normal jpg extension and not jfif.

1. Open Regedit - Go to Start Menu, type Regedit - Click yes on notification window to run it.

2. Navigate to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT

3. Navigate to MIME

4. Navigate to DATABASE

5. Navigate to Content Type

6. Click on image/jpeg

7. Double click on "extension" and change the value from jfif to jpg

8. Close regedit ------------ Congrats
