Just In - APC Caucus Sacks Sen. Ndume As Senate Leader, Replaced By Lawan

The All Progressives Congress caucus in the Senate has sacked Senator Ali Ndume as the Senate Leader. Senator Ahmad Lawan has also been chosen to replace Ndume. The decision to sack Ndume was contained in a letter to the Senate by the APC caucus on Tuesday.

But Ndume, who was not at plenary when the decision was announced, expressed shock at the development. He said he was not consulted. He told newsmen after plenary:
“I don’t know whether I have been removed as the Senate Leader. “This announcement came to me as a surprise.”‎

Ali Ndume described this development as laughable, insisting he still remain the leader of the Upper Legislative Chamber. Ndume, in a press briefing on Tuesday shortly after the news of his removal broke, said he is unaware of his removal by the APC Senate Caucus.
