Gambians Flee Country Over Imminent War As Jammeh Refuses To Step Down

Gambian incumbent president's refusal to step down after loosing the presidential election to Barow has forced many Gambian citizens to flee the country to avoid impending war as it looms in the rather small country which is surrounded by Senegal.

Incumbent president, Jammeh, after election accepted defeat but later rejected the poll citing discrepancies in the election process. The official handover to the new president-elect Adama Barow is on the 19th of January 2017 and yet the incumbent refused to step down.

Amb Uyero Erarawewho Jnr shared these photos yesterday and wrote:

'My heart is heavy for the Citizens of Gambia at the moment with pictures sent to me today. Citizens are running for their life. Am calling on my brother who is also the Minister of Information Hon. Seedy S.K Njie, to join hands with President Yayeh Jammeh in bring Peace to the Republic. It is not too late we still have some days to make everything right'
